Mikhail (Misha) Osanov, a graduate student from Prof. Jamie Guest’s Topology Optimization Research Group was selected as a finalist for the Stratasys CubeSat Challenge. The goal of the challenge was to design a small satellite frame optimized for addictive manufacturing.
Mikhail was placed 11th out of 203 entries submitted online this year. The core of Mikhail’s CubeSat design was obtained using a TopOpt algorithm, which aims to maximize stiffness under the volume and equilibrium constraints.
